Vi sidder og nærstuderer vores lejekontrakt lidt (havde vi ikke tid til, da vi i sin tid skrev under), og det er ikke helt uinteressant læsning. Dette er jo landet, hvor man sagsøger hinanden for et godt ord, og det forklarer sikkert følgende afsnit:
"Landlord's related parties shall not be liable for any loss incurred as a result of the following: theft, burglary, rape, assault, battery, arson, mischief or other crime, vandalism, fire, smoke, water, lightning, rain, flood, water leaks, hail, ice, snow, wind, explosion, sonic boom, interruption of utilities, electrical shock, defect in any of the contents of the apartment home, defects in the community (including latent defects), acts of God, acts of terror, acts of other residents or their occupants, guests or invitees, or any other cause."
De fralægger sig med andre ord ansvaret for, at beboerne skulle lide nogen tab pga. eksempelvis overlydsbrag fra fly (hvad det så end er), terrorhandlinger, uforudsete hændelser (acts of God!) og - for ligesom at være på den HELT sikre side - "any other cause". Sådan!
